Hello! I’m glad you are here! I am definitely sure that you are interested to know how to start a blog that’s why you are here, right? But you have so many questions, worries and doubts. You don’t know how and where to start. It seems so overwhelming! I feel you! I felt the same way too when I was about to start a blog. But it is good that there are other people who are sharing their knowledge to others who are willing to learn. I am here to ‘pay it forward’ now. So, don’t get intimidated because there are still many good souls 😉 around who can guide you through.

I want to tell you now that starting a blog is not really difficult. If you can follow simple instructions like when you do some DIY projects then you can follow tutorial on how to start a blog. Actually, you can have your website up in less than an hour or in just few minutes! Even if you are not tech-savvy and you are not a millennial mom (like me). Ohh, did I hear yes there? Do we have an instant connection? Yes we can still be a mommy blogger, there is no age requirement here. And so what if there are million mommy bloggers already? I believe that there is enough space for all of us in this online world.

I so love this –

Benefits of Blogging

It can be your creative outlet – Starting a blog is beneficial to everyone but most especially to us mommies, much more than we have realized. For a beginner blogger, it can be an outlet wherein you can write everything you want to share, you can get all the creative juices flowing or you can show your artistic side when you feel that you are so bored because you are just home with kids and doing nothing but home chores. Blogging can bring you to a different world! If you are creating something and you are happy with the result, it will boost your morale and will give you back your confidence.

It is a learning opportunity – I must admit, I’ve learned so much in blogging and it is a continuous learning experience. I love reading other’s posts that are full of information because I always welcome new ideas, perspective and knowledge. As you go through, it can improve and develop your skills. Most of all, you will get better everyday.

It connects you to the online world – One of the best things about blogging is you meet a lot of people online. Those you have ‘just met’ but you already have an instant connection because you know that you already have something in common. Also, you don’t feel alone even if you really are!

It can motivate others – Like I’ve said earlier, it doesn’t matter if there are already a million bloggers out there. Each one of us is a unique individual and we have our own stories to tell. Your story can be an inspiration to others and it can motivate them to do something that they don’t want to do or they are scared to even try it. But when they read your story, they have found out that it is worth trying so it gives them the courage to do it or at least try it. See! You’ll never know!

It could make money – Imagine making a money from something that was ‘just a hobby’. For others, blogging was just a hobby until they have learned how to monetize their blogs thus having passive income. But there are lots of bloggers who started with the purpose of making money right from the start.

Now that you know the benefits, let me show you how to start a blog with these easy to follow steps:

1. Choose Your Niche

What is a niche? According to Cambridge Dictionary, a niche is a job or position that is very suitable for someone, especially one that they like; an area or position that is exactly suitable for a small group of the same type.

In the blogging world, it is the main topic that you would like to discuss most of the time, the content that you are planning to write for your blog, your passion, interest, strengths, skills or even experiences. You don’t have to be a master or a guru for that specific niche but it should be where your heart is. Because when you love something, you will never get tired of doing it. Most of the times, you can’t even stop talking about it!

2. Decide On Your Domain Name

Your domain name is basically your blog name, which is also your URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that means the address of a World Wide Web page. It is specifically your own blog’s web page, that is

I know that the struggle is real on deciding your domain name. Been there, done that! You have to think it over until you come up with the name that you really like. But don’t overthink and waste so much time in choosing the ‘perfect blog name’ because it will take your time from starting your blog.

Here are some ideas in choosing a domain name:

You can make a list of words or names based on your niche then you can combine, put together or play around with it until you are satisfied with the combination.

You can go to websites like Bust A Name for some help. It is a domain maker tool wherein you can enter words and it will generate different combinations and you can choose from there if you find something that catches your interest.

It is also a good idea to use your own name as your blog’s domain name. Aside from the fact that it is more popular now, what else can be more personal and unique than that?

3. Choose A Hosting Plan

After choosing a domain name, the next important step is to choose a hosting service plan for your blog so you can start right away.

As for me, I chose SiteGround for my blog hosting.

Host your blog with SiteGround  because it is fastsecure and they have outstanding support. Upon signing up and while setting up my blog, I contacted the customer service twice. It is true that they are 24/7 insanely fast support with a heart! They did not keep me waiting and they replied instantly.

Here is the signup process:

1. Choose your hosting plan

SiteGround has three plans and you can sign for any of them basing on your considerations.

  • The StartUp plan is perfect for people with one website that are starting now.
  • The GrowBig plan is a great value for money offer, including the option for multiple websites and the SuperCacher that greatly improves a WordPress and Joomla website speed.
  • The GoGeek plan is perfect for people with e-commerce and larger sites, or more geeky development needs like staging and GIT integration.

If you are a new blogger, you can choose the StartUp Plan for you to be able to start your blog first. But as you can see, the GrowBig Plan is the bestseller! Just adding few more dollars, you can have all the essential and additional features plus you can have multiple websites. Isn’t that amazing?

Step 2. Choosing Domain

Step 3. Review and Complete

Unlike many other hosting providers, the advertised discount applies to any of the initial periods chosen during the sign up process. It means that you can take advantage of their best price of $3.95/month by just signing up for 12 months. Being able to get the low price for the one year period is really a deciding factor.

You have just created your hosting account.

4. Install WordPress

Now that you already have a hosting for your blog, all you need to do is install WordPress in a click.

On the same page where you got the notification that ‘Your account was successfully created!’, just click the ‘proceed to customer area’ button.

Click WordPress to install, enter your email, username and password then click confirm.  Your account is ready to use!

Now you can go to and login using your username and password.
